About the Department

History

Today, Philosophy Group Education Department was opened as a 4-year department in Gazi Education Faculty in 1993. It took its first students in the 1994-1995 academic year. With the restructuring in 1998, it was organized as a program in the Philosophy Group Education Department under the Secondary Education Social Fields Education Department and the education year was increased to 5 years. In the Philosophy Group Teaching undergraduate program, which gave its first graduates in 1998-1999; It is aimed to educate individuals who are adequately equipped in social sciences and human sciences by giving theoretical courses related to the field (field knowledge), general culture courses and teaching profession knowledge. From the 1998-1999 academic year, until this academic year (2016-2017), students are trained with a 5-year curriculum. In addition, the Department was transformed into a 4-year undergraduate program by YÖK in 2013. Since 2016, the Philosophy Group, affiliated to the Turkish and Social Sciences Education Department of Gazi Education Faculty, continues to exist as the Education Department. The education period is 4 years.

Promotion

Students are placed in the Department with a quota of 20 according to the Equal Weight score from the exam conducted by OSYM. The language of education is Turkish. In the last 4 years, an average of 20 people graduate from our Department every year. It is a program that graduates with the title of "Philosophy Group Teacher", taking into account the basic discussions of philosophy, sociology, psychology and logic sub-disciplines during academic education, and the integration of knowledge and skills required by our education system with secondary education. Students who graduate from our Department can work as philosophy group teachers in high schools and equivalent schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In addition, with a guidance certificate, he can work as a guidance teacher in private schools and private teaching institutions. After completing their undergraduate education, they can increase their careers by graduating from the "master's" and "doctorate" program in our Department, which is carried out in cooperation with Gazi University Institute of Educational Sciences, and they can become faculty members in higher education institutions. There are 5 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 3 Research Assistants in our department.
